Rectron has unveiled the latest member of Transcend’s StoreJet external hard drives, the StoreJet 35T, a high-performance drive, which measures about the size of a hardback book, offers up to 2Tb capacity – and is certified for Windows 7.

“The StoreJet 35T Series drives are designed to be the ultimate in backup and storage,” says Werner Joubert – Personal Systems and Storage Business Manager at Rectron, sole local distributor of the Transcend range of storage and multimedia products.
“With up to 2Tb of storage space, they have more than enough capacity for the most demanding user. And – despite providing formidable storage capacities – the new drives are designed to be very speedy; when engaged, their TurboHDD mode can boost write speeds by as much as 30 percent.”
Transcend’s TurboHDD USB technology provides high levels of data transfer performance and can enhance write speeds from 33MB/s to an average of 42Mbps.
When the drive is switched from standard mode into TurboHDD USB mode, its ring-shaped LED indicator will also change colours – from green to bright blue – to help users identify the drive’s current speed status.
“The StoreJet 35T Series drives feature a One Touch Backup button, which will backup user‑designated folders with one press of a button, and also support and features 256-bit AES encryption for the highest levels of data safety and protection.”
The One Touch backup system lets users instantly backup and synchronise data with their notebook or desktop PC, ensuring their important data is safely stored in a secondary location.
Transcend’s StoreJet Elite software also offers intelligent backup scheduling, Internet tools and advanced security tools.
As an eco-friendly drive, the StoreJet 35T is designed to automatically go into power-saving sleep mode after ten minutes of inactivity, allowing energy-savings of up to 67%.
With an expected retail price of R2 499.00, the new StoreJet 35T Series drives will be launched locally in the second half of 2010.
