Intelsat, a proviers of fixed satellite services, is partnering with sports media companies to offer a single source for broadcast operations to those covering the soccer World Cup in South Africa next month.
Intelsat is working with Aberdeen House Sports Management (Aberdeen), Reuters News Agency and Video Cairo Support Services (VCSS) to offer a wide range of affordable, onsite services for rights holders. These include:
* Use of fully equipped broadcast studio facilities, including three HD cameras and master control room;
* Playout facilities, including uplink and satellite segment on Intelsat’s IS-709 satellite, which will be temporarily moved to 54.85º East to accommodate World Cup broadcasting requirements; and
* Available stand-up positions overlook Cape Town’s Green Point Stadium and Table Mountain, Johannesburg’s Soccer City and Coca Cola Park Stadiums, and Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium. Coverage for other venue cities is available upon request.
Intelsat will provide more than 700 MHz of satellite capacity on satellites within its global fleet.
More than seven satellites will provide transmission services to the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The cmpany will also offer broadcast and location consultation services as well as in-country satellite newsgathering services. Its managed platforms for encoding, multiplexing and compression equipment in High Definition and Standard Definition are also available.
