HP Networking is the new entity that will be created when HP completes the merger of its ProCurve business with the recently-acquired 3Com. The new organisation is expected to hit the ground on 1 July.
Lorna Hardie, SA country manaer for HP ProCurve, says the process of legally combining the two operations is currently underway.
"We expect it to be concluded by July if all goes according to plan," she says.
Hardie adds that, once the merger is complete, customers will have access to an end-to-end range of products under one banner, catering to the data centre, core, wireless, LAN/Edge, security and management sectors.
"Yesterday there was ProCurve, 3Com, H3C and Tipping Point – tomorrow there will be HP Networking."
Initially, the different products will be offered under their existing brands, but Hardie says that they will merge into a single brand towards the end of the year – although Tipping Point and H3C may continue under their existing brands for longer.
She adds that customers will benefit from an expanded sales and service team, as well as a merged channel.
