MTN was willing to pay almost $8-billion for Algeria's Djezzy operator, as part of the deal acquire Egypt's Orascom.

The Djezzy part of the deal has been blocked by the Algerian government, which says it will exercise its right to buy the operator itself.
Orascom will now open negotiations with the Algerian government, although it seems that MTN's offer is still on the table.
It's still nto clear how this move will affect the rest of the Orascom acquisition as MTN has remained tight-lipped about ongoing negotiations.
