Oracle is set to lay off workers in Europe and Asia as it integrates the Sun Microsystems business.
Although it's not known howm any jobs will be affected, the company has earmarked between $675-million and $825-million, mostly for severance packaged.
This is in addition to the $325-million it has already set aside for restructuring of the Sun acquisition.
Inititally, Oracel said it wouldn't cut jobs at Sun once the acquisition was finalised, but more recently it says it's found many instances of inefficiency at the hardware maker.
Recent IDC figures indicate that Sun's server shipments fell about 32% in the first quarter of 2010.
