Friends and family of NetFlorist stepped into the gap yesterday as drivers went on strike on the busiest occasion of the year for the online floral and gifting supplier.

The 70 additional drivers arranged by NetFlorist to meet the delivery demand for thousands of Valentine’s Day hamper and floral orders did not show up to work, forcing the company to send SOS signals to friends, family members and business associates to stand and deliver – literally.
"Thanks to their efforts, there were not disruptions to our delivery schedule," says Ryan Bacher, MD of NetFlorist, which received over 8 000 Valentine's Day orders this year.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) called the strike after negotiations with the Road Freight Association, regarding a wage dispute, failed.
