Knowledge Integration Dynamics (KID) is hosting a master data management (MDM) workshop at the KID Academy Training Centre in Johannesburg on 23 March.
The workshop will cover MDM fundamentals and best practices that will help businesses successfully implement MDM initiatives.
“There isn’t a top 100 organisation in South Africa today that is not at least considering an MDM initiative,” says Johann van der Walt, marketing director at KID. “Traditional mergers and acquisitions, consolidation and, increasingly, regulation are driving the need for master data projects.”
The workshop – "MDM: taking charge of your data" – will feature Johann van der Walt, who heads up KID’s rapidly growing MDM division, and who has more than 17 years of experience running MDM projects for one of the world’s largest FMCG businesses and several large multinational concerns.
The workshop will address top concerns in the field by outlining a tried and tested foundation for rapid and successful MDM rollout.
“There is a rapidly growing need for MDM in the country and there is a severe skills shortage,” says Van der Walt.
“We will lead attendees through the process of what to do and how to it in order to derive the success they need, and then maximise the opportunity to obtain that extra return on their investment of money, time and skills development.”
The workshop will cover:
* MDM overview and industry definitions.
* MDM architecture.
* Data models.
* Data quality.
* Business process workflows.
* Data distribution.
* MDM tool selection.
* Planning for success.
“We will end the day with a practical demonstration to give attendees a hands-on feel for MDM and what they can expect when they return to their organisations,” says Van der Walt.
