The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office solution from Bytes Connect is a pre-configured server that allows small and medium businesses to enjoy enterprise-class business telephony. It also meshes seamlessly with Alcatel-Lucent Extended Communication Server, and together the two systems provide advanced telephony services, secure high-speed Internet and e-mail, and shared access to contacts, calendars and documents to employees in the office, on the road, or working from home.
OmniPCX Office also supports call centre, soft phone and third-party XML applications.

After a national survey of its existing infrastructure, it was determined that 15 of G4S’s branches needed switchboard and related infrastructure to be replaced immediately, while some required cabling.
Brits says G4S will investigate an MPLS/UC (multi-protocol label switching/unified communication) roll-out in the near future. This is a technology that the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office solution supports seamlessly, without the need for any additional gateway equipment.
