Altech Autopage Cellular is close to its goal of registering its entire customer base in terms of RICA, with 91% of customers already registered.
Boyd Chislett, MD of Altech Autopage Cellular, comments: “Altech Autopage Cellular is pulling out all the stops to ensure 100% of customers are registered by 30 June. We don’t want any of our customers inconvenienced when the deadline comes into effect.”
In terms of RICA, or the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act, cellular network providers are requiring all new and existing cellular customers to present an ID book or passport plus proof of residential address in the form of a utility bill, as well as an active SIM card, at an approved retail outlet before 30 June 2011.
Both voice and data SIM cards need to be registered to be RICA compliant.
Chislett says a comprehensive mix of communications platforms is being used to ensure that the remaining 9% of Altech Autopage Cellular customers register before the cut-off date.
