DCC announces WD’s My Book Live

It is possible for users to store all their media in one place with the Western Digital My Book Live, now available from distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC). It is as simple as connecting the My Book Live to a wireless router and centralising the family's movies, music, photos and files, all on the home network.

The WD My Book Live allows users to stream digital media to any screen in their home as the built in media server streams music, photos and movies to any DLNA-certified multimedia devices, such as a WD TV Live HD media player, Blu-ray Disc player, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. The drive includes iTunes server support so users can centralise their music collection and stream to a Mac or PC.
Users can also use their iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Android smartphone to get quick access to all photos stored on their home network drive by downloading the free WD photos viewer app, and access their entire photo collection without taking up space on their mobile devices.
"Everyone in the family can use it, whether it is playing music on your Mac or PC, watching your holiday video, or showing off your birthday slide show on your TV, streaming digital media to any screen in your home is so simple with WD's leading- edge technology," says Linsay Narayanan, Western Digital product specialist at DCC.
Every time a user saves a document or file, the content is automatically backed up, making The MyBook Live a perfect business companion for small businesses that need to backup information on their PCs or notebooks.
The WD My Book Live features automatic backup with WD Smartware for Windows, which enables users to back up the data on all their home or office computers to a single reliable place.
With secure remote access, they can access their files over the Internet from anywhere, using WD's remote access technology, which enables them to share photos and documents when they are away from home or the office.
"The WD My Book Live is designed around the most recent advances in Ethernet chip technology, delivering read speeds up to 100Mbps. This makes the My Book Live ideal for small business owners and consumers alike," concludes Narayanan.
