Following on from the existing partnership between MTN Business and Standard Bank South Africa, MTN Business Namibia has been awarded the contract to deliver a fully managed Multi-Protocol Switch Labelling (MPLS) network to Standard Bank’s 115 sites in Namibia, including its business branches, all agencies, as well as all the bank’s ATMs.
The objective of this solution is to provide Standard Bank Namibia with a much more secure and faster network that is far more resilient, as well as reliable.
Manfred Engling, GM of MTN Business Namibia, comments: “Through the implementation of such a solution, MTN Business will offer Standard Bank Namibia a superior infrastructure, including a Service Level Agreement (SLA), which allows for the effective monitoring of Standard Bank’s network lines. Standard Bank, through this, can be assured of supreme reliability of the network and an end result of increased productivity for Standard Bank’s overall business.”
Cobus van Rooyen, head of IT at Standard Bank Namibia, adds: “As a top financial services provider in a personal, business and investment capacity, Standard Bank Namibia proactively provides solutions to our customers through not only creative staff, but also through the use of effective technology and, as a result, we require a network that is fully secure and redundant.
“Taking into account the company’s experience, as well as the existing partnership MTN Business holds with Standard Bank in 17 other African countries, we believe that MTN Business Namibia fully understands our business needs and will provide us with a solution that meets our specific local business requirements.”
Implementation of the MPLS solution has begun and completion of the project is set for the end of June 2011.
Engling says: “We are excited about the execution of this solution for Standard Bank Namibia and look forward to the positive results that we can expect to see. Furthermore, we are committed to telecommunications expansion across Africa and certainly we take pride in the fact that Standard Bank Namibia has chosen MTN Business as their preferred partner in this regard, as this allows us to continue our expansion and commitment to offering African corporations our “360 degree” service offering.”
