Sony has debunked reports that its network – currently in the process of being restored after user information was severely compromised in an attack last month – was once again suspended after a new attack.

“We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page,” the company states. “Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.”
Sony is encouraging customers who haven’t yet reset their passwords to do so directlry on their PS3 devices, or on the web site once it’s back up and running.
In order to sign into their accounts, users need to download and install a new firmware upgrade and then change their passwords – a new security measure that Sony has introduced.
