AOC, a leading brand of flat-screen monitors and TVs and with operations in more than 100 countries,  has appointed Platinum Micro as a distributor for the South African market.

Platinum Micro product manager Martin Kruger says the company will distribute a range of AOC monitors including the AOC Razor range of ultra-slim monitors which offer ultra-slim cabinets of just 0,92cm thickness (53 Series) and 1,2cm thickness (43 Series) with screen sizes ranging from 18,5 inches to  23 inches.
“We will have stock within a month and will distribute the monitors nationally  through direct channels, which are soon to be finalised.
“This is a huge brand coup for Platinum Micro and a great opportunity,” he says. “It will lead to a permanent presence in South Africa for AOC and we  already have a distribution channel reward and incentive scheme in place to attract top resellers. The marketing support from AOC is first-class.
“Locally the intention is to build up the AOC name in South Africa and turn it into a prominent household brand.”
Last year AOC shipped 16-million monitor units worldwide. It is ranked sixth in the world’s leading brands and is committed to expanding its global foortprint with a new focus on Africa, the Middle East and central Asia. It has maintained average annual growth of more than 20% for the past three years.
Brian Liu, AOC’s vice-president: sales for MEA & CIS Central Asia, says AOC’s is committed to introducing practical solutions that cater for the diverse needs of today’s world whether it be entertainment, gaming, presentations, displays or graphic applications.
He says the LCD market in the MEA & CIS Central Asia region is eveloving at a faster rate and AOC is looking to its business partners to drive sales in these markets, including South Africa.
