Citrix has appointed IT solutions company THINK iT as its first gold partner in South Africa. The gold partner certification will see THINK iT focus on providing end-to-end consultancy and maximising the efficiency of Citrix deployments, taking virtualisation into the private cloud and beyond.

The organisation has been a Citrix Silver partner for six years, designing and implementing Citrix application, desktop and server virtualisation solutions. The transition to gold status is a sign of the deepening relationship between the two organisations.
“THINK iT will work with Citrix to help customers understand the value that desktop virtualisation and cloud computing can deliver in the enterprise environment. They will be a key partner to deploying and supporting Citrix virtualisation solutions in South Africa,” says Sean Wainer, country manager for Citrix Systems Southern Africa.
Dominic Oettl, MD of THINK iT, says: “Citrix is the only vendor in this space to have developed a holistic approach to virtualisation with a full product lifecycle offering. We’re completely behind Citrix virtual computing solutions and their adoption into mainstream.
“Virtualisation is about applying a new way of doing things to an existing infrastructure,” adds Oettl. “It is not necessarily a cost saving exercise. It’s becoming more about how we can enable information workers to have technology anywhere, anytime. Also how we give IT a greater degree of control with flexibility.”
Wainer supports this, saying: “Many IT leads are confined by their infrastructure dependencies with valuable time and resource needing to be deployed into mundane maintenance. Virtualisation and now personal cloud computing are breakthrough technologies that have as much value for the end users as they do for the IT department.”
“We’re both a consulting business, as well as an outsourced IT services business to a number of our clients – so the concept of being able to work thinner, quicker and faster makes sense to us on a business level as well as on a client level,” says Oettl.
“We’ve investigated many of the virtualisation offerings and are convinced that Citrix has the kind of heavy weight, full service offering that can we can  build our business on and also genuinely offer clients the best of breed IT services for this new era of distributed and flexible workforces.”
