Not surprisingly, the latest Harry Potter movie, which premiered last week, has raised a rash of malware scams that seek to trick users into clicking on alicious links.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is the last movie of the Harry Potter novel series and is being released globally on July 15. The movie has another few days before it appears in theaters but has already become a hot topic for spammers.
In one mail, spammers are offering free tickets to the movie, but is really a trick to harvest personal and financial information.
Because Harry Potter fans are excited to find out what will happen in the final installment, Symantec expects that spammers will continue to distribute more and more Harry Potter spam leading up to the final film's release since this is their last great chance to exploit the Harry Potter magic.
