Van Schaik, the most trusted and preferred academic bookstore in the country, is proud to announce its new partnership with mimoney. This is great news for students who don’t have credit cards, and for those who don’t want to use their credit cards for Internet shopping.

They can now use this e-currency to buy their textbooks online instead of rushing from bookshop to bookshop, or panicking when they discover that the books they need are out of stock.
mimoney is an online currency that exists as a voucher code on users' mobile phones. Since they can use their phone to do just about anything else, and they never go anywhere without it, being able to use it to buy textbooks online just makes sense.
“We are constantly on the lookout for ways to make shopping for textbooks as convenient for students as possible, and to maintain our status as South Africa’s most preferred academic retailer,” says Stephan Erasmus, MD of Van Schaik Bookstore.
“We strive to provide as many different payment options for our customers as possible, so we jumped at the chance to give them the opportunity to pay by secure mobile means.”
Van Schaik Bookstore is one of mimoney’s 25 partner stores, all of which rank amongst South Africa’s premier online and physical retailers. Other stores that accept mimoney include Incredible Connection in store, and kalahari and Ster Kinekor's Web sites.
“Online shopping and cashless payments in-store are becoming a way of life for more and more people and our aim is to make every conceivable product available to purchase with mimoney. Van Schaik opens an important market for us in the student population, who do not necessarily use credit cards,” says Geraldine Mitchely, business development manager at mimoney.
mimoney is free to load and free to spend – there are no banking fees involved at all. Users can load mimoney onto their phones at Ster Kinekor self-service terminals or box offices, or via normal EFT. They can also buy it online, at mimoney's Web site or at Standard Bank’s Autopay site.
To pay for textbooks on the Van Schaik Bookstore Web site using mimoney, select the mimoney payment option after choosing what to buy, and then enter the mobile number and voucher code.
