The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is looking for partners to help implement the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).

A Request for Partners was gazetted nationally last week and in the provinces today.

The RFP aims to find implementation partners based in the provinces to help expand the IFMS through a skilled partner network. It also aims to empower more SMMEs and local economic development through its partnership model.

SITA plans to play a great role in supporting an indigenous IT industry, SMME skills development and job creation.

The agency has approved an SMME Development Strategy & Industry Partner Engagement and Implementation Partners Certification Models as part of its contribution towards growth in the local IT space.

To this end, it has begun engaging with some in-country OEMs on their reseller partner accreditation in the service categories of telecommunications; storage and servers; desktops, notebooks, printers, scanners and photocopiers; and software development.

In a statement, SITA says some of the requirements by the OEMs for reseller accreditation are onerous and prohibitive to the participation of SMMEs and the growth of the IT industry as a whole.

It adds that SITA will only accredit products and services of those OEMs that contribute towards SMME and local economic development.
