Voting has opened for the second Channelwise Awards, where resellers are invited to make their voices heard by telling us who their favourite vendors and distributors are.

Channelwise is South Africa’s leading magazine talking to the IT reseller market in South Africa. It instituted the Awards last year to find out which vendors and distributors are popular with resellers, and which aren’t.

More importantly, says editor Mark Davison, it asks why various players rank better than others, which provides a benchmark regarding what qualities resellers value in their business partners.

Resellers are asked to define which industry areas they operate in and then pick their favourite vendors within those categories.

They are asked to score them according to various criteria. These include:

*Cost

* Value

* Product range

* Reliability

* Quality

* Warranty/guarantee

* Channel programme

* Availability of services

They are then asked to pick their favourite distributors within the industry categories, again ranking them according to various criteria:

*Ease of doing business

* Pre-sales assistance

* Technical know-how

* Stock-holding

* Logistics/delivery

* Credit availability

* Implementation services

* Post-sales service

* Quality of staff

The qualitative data this produces gives both vendors and distributors a clear idea of what they need to do to attract and retain resellers loyalty, and how they could change to become easier to do business with.

Davison adds that the voting site has been redesigned this year and is quick to access and navigate.

Resellers are invited to make their mark at http://it-online.co.za/channelwise.

Voting closes on 23 September 2011.
