Accsys, a member of the Business Connexion Group and a national supplier of people management solutions within HR, payroll administration, time and attendance and access control, has presented payroll bursaries to the value of R23 000 each to two delegates attending the South African Payroll Association’s annual national conference.
Rosinne van Rooi from Petro SA in Johannesburg, and Yvette Shelver from CJ Petrow in Cape Town, each received the bursary after being picked in a lucky draw.
The bursary enables Van Rooi and Shelver to enrol for a two-year NQF Level 5 qualification, recognised as the highest level of qualification available in the payroll industry.
Accsys is a long-time member of the South African Payroll Association. This is the fourth year that the company has offered this sponsorship to the SAPA delegates as part of its contribution to the payroll focused conference.
“Skills development, training and other learning initiatives are essential to the general efforts to professionalise the industry. A key component of professionalising payroll is the availability of formal qualifications and also helping to introduce a method by which skills can be measured and quantified,” says Teryl Schroenn, CEO, Accsys.
The company believes that the bursaries represent a unique opportunity to gain more knowledge, a boon for those either already in the industry or those wanting to establish an early foothold.
The impact of ongoing economic pressure on companies and the influence of technology, corporate governance and skills shortages means that companies must do all they can to equip themselves to compete effectively adds Schroenn.
James McKerrell, chairperson of the South African Payroll Association, extended the appreciation of the organisation and its members for Accsys’ bursary sponsorship.
“Accsys is seriously committed to the advancement of payroll and the continuous need to develop skills. The bursaries will not only benefit the recipients, but also the industry as a whole as theoretical knowledge is applied in the workplace. We are proud of our association with Accsys and we thank the company for its contribution and the important role it plays within the Association,” says McKerrell.
