MTN Business is very proud to announce that its Corporate Transport and Logistics Solution won the Best Project, over R10-million category, announced at the third Annual Green Supply Chain Awards (GSCA) award ceremony, held on 18 August 2011.
These awards, which are a collaborative effort between the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in South Africa (CILTSA), the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA) and Supply Chain Today magazine, are designed to recognise excellence, reward companies that are making a genuine and sustained effort towards minimising the environmental impact of their supply chain processes.
MTN is honoured and thrilled at this recognition which reaffirms its sustainability initiatives. MTN believes that business can no longer afford to relegate environmental issues to the back burner. The challenges posed by greenhouse gas emissions cannot simply be the sole preserve of NGOs and governments.
“We are making a concerted effort to ensure that all our business practices are aligned to a sustainable model that will reduce our carbon footprint,” says Nomalanga Nkosi GM, MTN Business marketing
.
The MTN Business Corporate Transport and Logistics Solution enables logistics based businesses across the country to increase efficiencies and productivity, reduce costs and wastage through a live field data platform that links customers and staff to always stay connected.
“Our cost effective solution is a first for Africa. It enables totally paperless processes by providing an enterprise mobility platform – bundled with cellular data contract, providing all businesses requirements in terms of software, hardware, data, support and services.

“For us, this award doesn’t just recognise our own capabilities and corporate solution, but represents a much more significant nationwide opportunity.
“Certainly we are proud that our solutions and their clear demonstration of environmental performance improvements and supply chain value have been recognised by such a sought after professional accolade, but what excites us more is the major impact that mass implementations of this nature, across various industries, can have on our environment and in turn, our economy,” continues Nkosi.
“At MTN, yellow is the new green! And greening the future does not stop and start with just our solutions to market. We take our leadership in energy and environmental issues across Africa very seriously with sustainable business practice an imperative for MTN to significantly reduce and manage our own energy consumption and carbon footprint and of course, our solutions to market, help our customers reduce theirs.
“We are exceptionally proud to win this prestigious award and look forward to many more such recognitions as we continue our efforts of greening today for a better tomorrow,” concludes Nkosi.
