Local IT security provider, Securicom, has launched a new service for securing individual servers and workstations from a single point. Securicom Managed Endpoint Protection utilises best-of-breed endpoint security technologies to protect company assets from both internal and external threats.
“Too often, IT security initiatives are focused on protecting systems against threats originating from the Internet and via e-mail, with little consideration for threats that originate internally. Even the best perimeter and network security systems cannot prevent an unwitting or unscrupulous employee from putting computers and data at risk by using infected USBs and other peripheral devices.
“From leaking or stealing confidential business information to abusing company time and resources, employees are one of the biggest threats to a company’s IT and data security. Companies should have security mechanisms in place to protect individual machines at the point they are used.
“Our solution holistically takes care of endpoint health and ensures that companies have a tight grasp of security on all their machines no matter how many there are or where they are located,” says Dries Morris, operations director at Securicom.
Securicom Managed Endpoint Protection integrates essential security technologies including antivirus, antispyware, desktop firewall, intrusion prevention, device control and application access control. These technologies are deployed as one agent on each physical machine, eliminating the need for point solutions.
With Securicom Managed Endpoint Protection, companies can control what type of actions can be carried out on individual machines, manage user access to specific processes, files, folders and other applications, and define which peripheral devices can be connected to a machine and how the peripherals are used.
It can also remotely lock down endpoints to prevent connections from thumb drives, CD burners, printers and other devices.
Securicom Managed Endpoint Protection is delivered as a managed service on a subscription basis. The endpoint protection infrastructure, and ultimately the health and security of each machine, is centrally managed upstream by Securicom at a secure data centre.
Endpoints are monitored 24/7/365 as part of the service, and events affecting protected endpoints are quickly identified, analysed and escalated for remediation by Securicom’s team.
The solution features a secure online dashboard which provides the company administrator with a snapshot of the security posture of all workstations and servers on the system. Administrators also have access to reports and notifications about emerging threats that could impact the enterprise.
“Importantly, company administrators have real-time insight into events and outages affecting computers and servers on the system so they can address security issues before they can compromise other machines on the network,” says Morris.
He concludes saying that as an integrated, managed service, Securicom Endpoint Protection offers companies a one-stop, pain-free antidote to a range of security issues that can compromise endpoint health.
“With our service, companies can conveniently address the threats to endpoint security with one solution, and they have the back up of our experts at all times.”
