Investment Manager seeks an ESG Analyst to join their team. Ideal candidate will be an honours / masters graduate with a keen interest and knowledge of sustainability issues and a passion for investments and research in the responsible investing space. Min 0 – 2 years’ experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to research and influence as well as present. Role reports to the Head of ESG. Great team!Cape Town based. EE role. This role is open to suitably qualified Employment Equity candidates aligned with our client’s employment equity requirements for this role. The role in a nutshell : provide ESG investment research and analysis, present research to investment professionals, prepare research and materials, ensure proxy voting is undertaken, prepare client reporting as required for ESG risk, proxy voting and engagement, ensure that research is updated across systems, support the development of tools to integrated ESG analysis into their stock selection across asset classes, support and update ESG policies and practices across the investment management business, project management of the team’s meetings, support reporting CRISA & UNI PRI, ad hoc support duties to the team. - Minimum of a completed tertiary qualification – commerce / finance / investments / environmental / engineering or similar – preferably honours or masters level
- Either newly qualified or 0 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role or investment teams, preferably some relevant environmental exposure or similar
- Part CFA would be a distinct advantage
- Sound understanding and passion for responsible investing / ESG (Reg 28, CRISA, UNI PRI, sustainability etc.)
- Research and analytical ability and interest
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate about investments and analysis
- Good project management skills
- Good team player attitude, self-starting and works well independently
