We are currently looking for an Water Technician in the North West who will responsible to operate equipment, conduct inspections, perform testing and basic treatment processes and monitor the water plant with the aim of purifying and clarifying water for the resort, in line with company procedures.

Skills and Competencies

• Experience in line with a Class IV Water Process Controller (in line with regulations from National Standards for Water Services Works) namely:
• Certificated candidates will require a minimum of 8 years experience in water and waste-water operations OR
• Diploma or Degreed candidates will require a minimum of 2 years experience in water and waste-water operations
• Practical application of work procedures and processes
• Planning is generally on a short-term basis (within 3 months) and within regular activity cycles
• Interprets process requirements and the applicable constraints
• Takes initiative in making decisions which are made within well-defined, somewhat diversified procedures and limits of authority;
• Considers all the facts, options and possible outcomes prior to making decisions;
• Works independently, and is orientated towards solving customer queries.
• Written and Verbal Communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office; IFS (advantage)

Qualifications

• Qualifications in line with a Class IV Water Process Controller (in line with regulations from National Standards for Water Services Works) namely:
• Grade 12 (or NTC III) plus Operators Certificate; OR Water Treatment practice N3; OR Wastewater Treatment practice OR
• National Diploma OR National Technical Diploma OR NTC VI or 3 year BSc (all in Water or Waste Water treatment)
• Registration as a Class 4 Water Process Controller (in line with regulations from National Standards for Water Services Works)

Duties and Responsibilities

Water Maintenance
• Collect and test water and sewage samples
• Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges
• Record meter and gauge readings and operational data
• Operate equipment to purify and clarify water or to process or dispose of sewage
• Assist with basic treatment of water
• Escalate any issues, anomalies or irregularities
• Capture results of readings into the system
• Maintain accurate and thorough records of water testing and treatment results
• Conduct quality control processes on laboratory analysis

Water Plant Standards
• Conduct walkabouts and checks of the water plant in line with preventative maintenance plan
• Inspect equipment on a regular basis and complete necessary paperwork
• Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas
• Use, store and maintain equipment in line with specifications and to required standards
• Maintain an asset control register of water plant equipment
• Perform inspections as per SOP and inspection schedules
• Escalate anomalies and irregularities to relevant authorities
• Ensure records are accurate, correlate with source information and are accessible
• Maintenance conducted in accordance with stipulated plant checks (daily, weekly, monthly,3 monthly, annual)

Reporting
• Maintain records of testing and recommendations and treatment of water for audit purposes, in the context of current legislation
• Compile reports on results of analyses for communication with management
• Capture and maintain accurate and thorough records of water testing and treatment results

• Stakeholder Management
• Engage with internal customers to understand challenges and/or issues and related requirements
• Provides relevant stakeholders of water outages and scheduled shutdowns
