Head: Applications Support and Systems Development – Modderfontein – R1 171 294pa
Main Tasks:
- Manage day-to-day applications support issues including prioritization, communication, and resolution of problems for all business applications
- Coordinate related escalation processes with the CIO, software vendors and external service providers, as applicable
- Demonstrate a consistent focus on customer service in interactions with business leaders and stakeholders across the company, by listening effectively to their needs, proposing potential technology solutions in business terms, actively facilitating the achievement of expected business value of technology investments
- Work with business leaders to define business applications security, based on organizational roles/responsibilities and best practice segregation of duties
- Define, implement, and manage process(es) to add/modify/terminate end user applications rights based on business needs
- Create, implement, and test IT policies and processes in the areas of software development and implementation; ensure compliance with guidelines and requirements from the CIO, as well as generally accepted IT best practices
- Plan and manage Organization-specific applications projects in coordination with the CIO
- Define and implement an effective on-going support model for these Organization-specific solutions, combining internal and external talent to be effective and cost- effective
- Plan and manage other business applications projects, per the IT department’s plans and priorities, including:defining project scope and requirements,
estimating and tracking project costs,
planning and managing tasks and resources,
assessing and mitigating project risks - Define, implement, and publish on a monthly basis key performance metrics for business applications
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business applications vendors and service providers
- Maintain a good working knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to areas of responsibility, through independent research
Minimum Requirements & Key Competency:
- Honours Degree in IT related qualification (NQF Level 8)
- Management qualification
- Certification (ITIL, CESA / CISSP/COBIT)
- At least 10 (ten) years’ experience within the IT environment of which 5 (five) years must have been spent on Application /System development frameworks / models
- Management level experience
- Experience of Oracle Technologies, Databases and related development/ support methodologies/ frameworks
- Ability to conduct research and develop strategic business documents
- Experience designing and implementing mission-critical systems and application in an enterprise environment
