A contract opportunity exists for a Senior Reliability Engineer to be deployed to a mine in KZN, South Africa. The Reliability Engineer will be responsible to improve the Reliability Engineering practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Improve plant/asset reliability, some of the activities will include:
Identify/confirm critical assets, conduct FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), etc. to reduce risks of assets failing
Track plant/ asset downtime to identify the main causes of downtime
Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. To fulfil this responsibility, the Reliability Engineer applies:
Data analysis techniques that can include (Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Six Sigma)
Conduct RCFA to identify the real root causes of failures, and implement correct measures to eliminate failures. Facilitate RCFA workshops, and include all relevant personnel in these sessions
Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
Asset Life Cycle Management – Track maintenance costs for assets to identify life cycle costing, which will influence future asset purchases, when assets need to be procured, ensure life cycle costing – and reliability considerations are incorporated into decision making,
Work with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations,
Ensure maintenance work is carried out using correct methods and procedures, as efficiently and effectively as possible
Analyse and track performance of assets by identifying and reporting certain KPI’s (OEE, Availability, Utilisation, Productivity, MTBF, MTTR, etc.)
Make recommendation for continuous improvement through the use of Lean and 6 Sigma methodology and tools
- Assist with the enhancement / ongoing improvement of the EAM system, this include:
Ensure correct Asset Tree Structures and asset identification,
Identify fit for purpose Asset Care strategies and plans for different Asset classes (Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Proactive Maintenance, etc.), update these from RCFA where applicable,
- Stakeholder Management
Ensure ongoing communication with Engineering Manager, Process Manager, Production Managers, etc.
Have weekly head of section meetings, Information sessions and training sessions where required or new/change in processes.
- Actively coach and mentor reliability engineers to improve overall skill base and methods used
- Ensure safety, legal and company policies are adhered to.
- Implementation a culture of best practice maintenance.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- At least 7 – 10 years’ experience in reliability engineering gained within the Mining/Oil and Gas Industry (Fixed Plant)
Qualifications:
- Completed a trade test as a Fitter, Millwright and Electrical with a recognized institution ideal.
- National Diploma/Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical -, Industrial – or Electrical Engineering
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)- and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) e.g. SAP, and/or Pragma On Key experience,
- In depth experience of Root Cause Failure Analysis (incl DMAIC methodology)
- Experience with SAP EAM, will be a distinct advantage.
- In depth Knowledge of TPM and RCM concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of ISO [Phone Number Removed]; standards will be an advantage
- Knowledge of MS Projects and MS Excel.
