BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR/GM – SANDTON

We’re expanding our global sales organization and seeking a Director with a strong Business Development focus. This new position will be focused on developing a robust pipeline of sales opportunities in newly targeted industries within South Africa and will be charged with working the opportunities from initial contact to close. The candidate best suited to this role will be a highly motivated and very organized individual with great communications skills, as well as experience in sales roles within the lighting industry sector being an advantage.. You’ll be an important part of our exciting company-wide expansion working with other sales colleagues, and with our marketing and analyst teams to create new opportunities.

Job Description:

Director, Sales & Business Development will lead the development of new business opportunities and be directly responsible for closing sales and revenue growth through strategic development of new accounts across newly targeted industries. The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with fellow sales colleagues, marketing and analyst teams to build new client relationships and gain credibility as a trusted advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve assigned sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Create a territory/customer strategy based on assigned customer verticals
  • Generate a sales pipeline matching solutions to customer challenges to produce revenue in line with quota
  • Work closely with the sales team, marketing and product management to lead the development of strategic sales approaches
  • Prioritize new prospect contacts, educating prospects, and qualifying their buying interest and sense of urgency

Desired Skills:

  • A history of over-achievement in your career and in the top 10% in your current organization
  • Minimum ten years of business-to-business sales experience with technical solutions ideally within telecommunications and information services
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to both external and internal audience needs
  • Proven interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective internal and external relationships
  • A self-starter who looks to solve problems, drive pipeline, and execute sales
