Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum matric
  • 5 years’ experience in the utilities, especially in the management of municipal accounts
  • A solid understanding of Municipal account management practices, with specific reference to:Municipal query administration, Property rates and valuation objections and, Application for clearance payments and refunds
  • Knowledge of Electricity, water and waste management principles
  • Knowledge of Electrical distribution systems and energy fundamentals
  • Metering and verification principles.
  • Utility management
  • Proficiencies o Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities:

  • To attend to the opening and closing of municipal accounts providing instruction and necessary supporting documentation to the relevant service provider.
  • To ensure the mitigation of utility-related risk as a result of property acquisitions and disposals.
  • To manage and maintain the accounts register.
  • To ensure accuracy of the municipal account deposits register and ensure deposits are refunded correctly and on time and/or bank guarantees are appropriately released.
  • To arrange the necessary documentation for deposits and bank guarantee requirements.
  • To manage the transfer of accounts and associated refunds as part of any rationalisation projects.
  • To manage municipal rates valuations with the appointed service provider (i.e. rates queries, liaison between service provider and asset management, monthly provision of information, ensuring account alignment).
  • To liaise with suppliers, including municipalities where and when necessary.
  • To manage and ensure account reconciliation and timeous payment of all supplier invoices.
  • To manage property rates and valuation objections with the support of an external service provider
