The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to the business, with a specific focus on Share-based payments (IFRS 2) and all new standards, e.g. IFRS 9,15, and 16, 15. You will provide support in the preparation of the consolidated Group annual financial statements and monthly financial reporting. You will also provide technical guidance on accounting issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing the Group consolidated annual financial statements and all financial deliverables of the annual report
  • Producing Annual Financial Statements for Group companies
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and full-year consolidated financial reports to the Board and Audit Committee
  • Preparing accounting papers in response to changes or proposed changes to accounting standards (including exposure drafts), highlighting impacts (if any) to current or future financial statements
  • Managing all relevant share scheme models and correctly accounting for necessary transactions and to accurately forecast and budget IFRS 2 charges
  • Managing complex valuations that may arise from time to time
  • Assisting in the preparation of Integrated reports
  • Liaising with auditors and managing audit team expectations
  • Maintaining compliance processes to ensure that the General Ledger provides the foundation for all Group financial reporting processes and monitoring loan accounts
  • Providing management reporting information (e.g. share price analysis) as required
  • Researching accounting treatment of new business initiatives, e.g. revenue recognition, leases’ standard implications, in terms of IFRS
  • Completing questionnaires from STATS SA and other institutions for the Group consolidated entity

Requirements:

  • Relevant Financial qualification – CA (SA) or equivalent
  • Completed articles
  • 2-3 years post-articles experience preferable
  • High degree of IFRS knowledge
  • Specialist Group consolidation skills
  • Ability to implement comprehensive and integrated accounting policies and procedures in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience with multi-currency reporting and translation and able to effectively report using latest decision support technologies (e.g. Oracle, QlikView, Hyperion, Excel)
  • Practical experience on discounted cash flows and impairment testing procedures
  • Able to effectively analyse financial information and make recommendations for improvement
  • Excellent PC literacy, finance modelling and analytical skills
