- The Rail Molding Manager’s mission is to guide the manufacture of assigned products that meets the customer and quality expectations, in a manner that ensures safety, meets productivity, schedule delivery commitments, and promotes continuous improvement in the areas of cost, quality and cycle time
- Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise rail foundry manufacturing operations on the High Volume Line, Stationary Slinger, and Core Room.
- Drives established production schedules by properly scheduling workforce and resources, while increasing output.
- Responsible for services, equipment, quality, safety, and activities including but not limited to molding boxes, tooling, personnel, sand and chemicals, and metal.
- Key driver for continuous and strategic improvements including but not limited to methods, quality, processes, and personnel.
- Actively promote professional development of supervisory team and key employees
- Establish team and individual objectives for continuous improvement and cost reduction
- Holds teams and self to targets defined for key improvement metrics
- Preforms performance monitoring and drives accountability
- Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
- Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed their customers’ expectations
- Encourage adoption of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
- Motivates colleagues from other departments to perform their duties to enhance own and other departments.
- Manage spending within established budget with a focus on reducing costs by efficient labor use, achieving maximum product yield, maintaining efficient material usage while incurring minimum operating expenses.
- Display superior leadership, management and problem solving skills as well as outstanding communications, training, motivational and employee development skills.
- Demonstrate sound interpersonal skills including the ability to build business relationships, provide recognition, and demonstrate integrity and high personal standards.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Operations Manager.
