The purpose of this role is to manage, maintain and coordinate the occupational health and hygiene functions at the mine through OH assessment, measurement, monitoring, analysis, reporting and advising to ensure compliance to legal and company requirements.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Development, implementation, coordination and maintenance of the health and hygiene programs in accordance to legal and company requirements.
- Manage health and hygiene service providers.
- Health and Hygiene analysis, interpretation, advising and reporting in accordance to legal and group requirements.
- Coordinate and promotes compliance to the Wellness programme (e.g. chronic disease monitoring, HIV/AIDS, FFWFFL).
- Develop and ensure compliance to monitoring schedules.
- OH control effectiveness, monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure that Overexposure investigations and Occupational illness investigations are conducted.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Serious contenders will have a Degree / National Diploma in Occupational Hygiene with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Coal Mining of which at least 2 years in a managerial position, being appointed as the 12.1.
- An advanced Certificate in MEC (Mine Environmental Control) is essential.
- Active membership of MVSSA (Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa) is essential.
- A Supervisory / Management qualification would be advantageous.
- Quality control and Auditing qualification will be advantageous.
- Experience in management of health and hygiene service providers, including the mine clinic is essential.
- Experience in Quality Control and Auditing of Hygiene & Health systems and services is essential.
- VENTSIM modeling experience is essential.
- Experience in ICAM methodology is advantageous.
- A code 08 valid driver’s license is essential.
