Introduction

Responsible for overseeing all Metrology requirements and operations for the company including calibration, repair and maintenance of internal and external tooling, equipment, and measuring equipment for the manufacturing process as well as providing assurance of reliability and validity.

Duties & Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY OUTPUTS
? Plan, procure, accept, test and approve internal and external manufactured tooling, master punches, production and numismatic dies, and marking criteria;
? Evaluate and approve internal and external tooling equipment against pre-approved drawing specifications;
? Review calibration reports from suppliers and safeguard Certificate of Compliance (COC’s) reports and acceptance reports;

  • Conduct visual analyses and measuring of production and numismatic master punch dies and edge lettering blocks;
    ? Schedule and plan inspection on software programs including programming of software based on authorised drawings;
    ? Uphold the set maintenance schedule in place for all the assets in the Metrology Laboratory and monitor the fit, form and function of equipment is maintained throughout its lifecycle;
    ? Manage Metrology Laboratory operations ensuring the lab is clean, temperature controls and safety measures are in place;
    ? Conduct daily planning of all incoming tooling, etc including bookings and adhoc requests;
    ? Write calibration work instructions for new instruments / equipment and scales;
    ? Develop new calibration methods and update metrology systems including notice boards, SHEQ and risk assessment objectives and targets;
    ? Conduct monthly scheduling and planning to calibrate all measuring and weighting instruments according to required frequency scales;
    ? Manage CAPEX projects for all Metrology operations including providing input into project scoping, implementation etc;
    ? Prepare all metrology reports;
    ? Compliance to SHEQ.

Desired Experience & Qualification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
? Diploma in Metrology / NQF Level 6;
? 5 Years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment;
? Statistical Process Control;
? Accurate and precise.

Package & Remuneration

R50 000 – R55 000 p.m. negotiable depending on experience
