JOB PURPOSE:
Our client is a force to reckon with in the digital tech space and they are looking for a talented, hip, vibrant, energetic & dynamic Senior DevOps Manager, who is a strong leader with exceptional management & organizational skills, passionate about managing large scale and high volume cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, proficient in Linux based systems & familiar with Chef.
As the DevOps Manager, you will define, implement, and drive best practices in DevOps technologies, and philosophies. Your team will build and operate large-scale systems to ensure security, high availability, and scalability within their platform. You will develop tools and processes that enable their teams to deliver continuously, deploying dozens of times a day in a seamless and coordinated effort. Additionally, you will promote a strong reliability culture by partnering with software engineering, security, and architecture to solve operational problems.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:
- Highly organized with excellent time & project management skills
- Passionate about managing large scale and high volume cloud-based infrastructure on AWS
- Leadership experience as a technical lead, team lead, or manager
- Experienced working closely with full Product Teams (Product Managers, Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, & Operations roles) to deliver an experience to customers
- Have analyzed business requirements with technical solution costs to provide win-win scenarios
- 5-7+ years of progressive DevOps engineering or related experience with gradually increasing responsibilities
- A demonstrated understanding of DevOps and technical quality control processes, artifacts, and tools
- 2-3+ years of DevOps leadership or management experience
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and the ability to apply their requirements and concepts to a complex environment
- Strong interpersonal communication and diplomacy skills, as well as a passion for leading
- BS or MS in related industry/field or equivalent experience (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems)
- Strong hands-on technical experience, knowledge, and understanding of:
- Delivering web applications on public clouds such as AWS
- Configuration Management, automation, & Infrastructure as Code
- CICD practices and tools
- Proficient in Linux based systems
- Familiar with Chef
- Experience with Relational Databases
- Experience with NoSQL databases a plus.
- An ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to detail
- An ability to quickly identify and drive to the optimal solution when presented with a series of constraints
- Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices

AS THE SENIOR DevOps MANAGER YOU WILL:
- Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated with the product development initiatives
- Assign and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that application development and deployment is done in the best possible way, and implement quality control and review systems throughout the development and deployment processes
- Display technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing data validation processes, quality assurance, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions
- Evaluate technological choices (network/hardware related and technology/code related) by querying providers and providing evaluations of each solution include ROI evaluations in the present and future implications, limitations, and opportunities
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of developers, product owners, and subject matter experts
- Exercise broadly delegated authority for planning, directing, coordinating, administering, and executing both routine and complex technical elements of technical operations
- Manage analysis and approval of new code through security and performance gates that you will design and develop for feature-complete software
- Be an advocate for security and performance standards in the organization
- Manage operational aspect of production and development servers including developing, training in, and validating compliance with procedures and checklists related to disk space usage, monitoring solutions, deployment, conventions, access to the production and development sources, source control access and usage, performance monitoring, code modifications validation, scheduling, and more
- Work within IT, cross-functionally and with vendors, in order to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues and provide subject matter expertise for enhancements, developments, and operational improvements to the website applications that they “the company” relies on
- Identify trending gaps or issues in the day-to-day performance of all website applications and components hosted by them “the company” and third party vendors including by active monitoring, alert management, reporting, and process reviews
- Maintain issue tracking and documentation systems and provides reporting that ensures proper tracking and visibility of issues and projects
- Identify technical and process improvement opportunities and socialize/advocate to get them implemented
- Works closely with the AVP of Systems in release planning, preparation, validation, post-release monitoring, and ongoing monitoring.
- Maintain accurate program estimates, timelines, project plans, and status reports
- Possess an expert technical understanding of the intersection of development and operations (DevOps), monitoring and management tools, and deployment processes and tools
- Possess high-level understanding in the areas of web application programming, content management systems, API, databases, and system design
- Provide process improvement recommendations based on best practices and industry standards
- Resolve conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies
- Be responsible for complex technical management coordination with multiple vendors and staff
- Be responsible for the development of standards and processes for operations that proactively prevent problems from occurring
