Qualification
- Grade 12/Matric
- Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline relevant to product development
- At least 2-years’ experience in product research and development manufacturing required related to cosmetic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products

Responsibilities
- Function as the Contract Giver’s contact person to relate new product development (NPD) or technical transfer (TT) requests to the correct department and managing the project, whilst liaising with the Contract Giver on any queries/concerns.
- To review new product development feasibility; create formulation and costing sheets; request raw/packaging materials, COA/COC/Halal certification, initiates change control and manages the project up to the completion of initial production batch and process validation.
- Manage new product trial batch material, method or process amendments and additions relating to requisitions, documentation and equipment with assistance from Dispensary, Production, Maintenance, Engineering, QC, QA and Warehouse
- Act as the contact person to new and current Contract Giver’s relating to new product development (NPD) and/or Technical Transfer (TT), provide technical support where possible.
- Create, record and manage new product sample batches for internal use or as requested by the Contract Giver.
- Interact with suppliers on sample materials procurement as required for new product sample batches.
- Manage NPD sample materials procured for new product sample batches in accordance with SOP NPD-001 New Product Introduction.
- Interact with the Quality Assurance (QA) Department on reviews in compliance of the NPD/TT request, documentation associated with the new product and ensures that regulatory requirements are maintained throughout the NPD process.
- Liaison with the CEO on review and approval of final product finances and feasibility related to the NPD/TT.
- Interact with the Finance Department and the Contract Giver with regards to credit applications and recording the Contract Giver’s details onto the ERP system.
- Interact with the QA Department on the creation of new product codes (RM, PM, IM and FG) and Bill of Process (BOP) on the ERP system.
- Create new product trial batch documentation as reviewed by Production, ensuring batch traceability is maintained and reviewing documentation before and after the trial batches have been manufactured in order to comply with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Interact with the Quality Control (QC) Department on creating all product specifications (RM, PM, IM and FG); and ensures that any test methods required have been verified against dossier, compendial methods are verified or developed or transferred methods are validated; that all materials are tested against relevant specifications and released prior to use; products are placed on stability if required and items follow the normal IPQC route as per the normal flow within the production facility
- Update trial batch documentation in accordance with manufacturing specifications and requirements until three consecutive production trial batches have been produced and approved.
- Liaison with the QA Department responsible for updating the product manufacturing document to the first non-trail production manufacturing version (V01) conforming to the three consecutive production trial batches as produced and approved.
- Interact with the Procurement Department on sample materials procured for new product development trail batches and to offer technical information and assistance on current product sample material changes where applicable.
- Interact with the Production Department on scheduling and manufacturing new product trial batches to specifications in a timely manner and ensuring that the product follows the normal flow within the production facility.
- Assist the Production Department on current product manufacturing troubleshooting, offer technical information, assistance and advise where applicable.
