Dear reader

The Hubble telescope made headlines this week as it snapped a shot of a spiral galaxy, known as the “Little Sombrero”, edge-on. According to NASA, a galaxy can look very different from different viewpoints and it is rare to observe a spiral galaxy from this angle.

The State of the Nation Address, delivered by President Jacob Zuma last week, has brought many of South Africa’s more glaring issues into the spotlight. Trade union Cosatu released a list of topics it expects to be addressed by the President going forward. Also making headlines are reports that the Medupi and Kusile power stations are running five years behind schedule, while it is said that the City of Tshwane is may soon run out of operating cash.
