Dear reader

Intel made headlines this week with the news that its Developer Zone programme is now available in South Africa. The global programme is designed to provide software developers and businesses with a single point of access to a variety of tools, communities and resources. It is a platform for developers to engage with peers and develop, market and sell their software.

Also in the headlines was the news that Telkom will proceed with the automatic transfer of staff from its call centre, supply chain and IT environments to new employers on 31 March. This is after unions failed to secure a majority consensus on an additional offer from the company. Meanwhile, “Team Switch” from FNB Merchant Services won first prize at the inaugural FNB codeFest, held at the Fairlands Campus. The winning team’s innovation involved customers using virtual credit cards to make payment through secure online facilities.

And finally, CA Southern Africa has released the results of a global study which reveals that brand loyalty has just a six-second shelf life, and mobile and desktop applications have become the new battleground for brand loyalty.

Until next week,
