Microsoft made headlines this week with the announcement at TechEd Europe of several cloud services to help intelligently automate and streamline IT operations. The new cloud services, mobility solutions, APIs, tools and partner offerings are all designed to help IT professionals and developers compete and thrive in today’s mobile-first, cloud-first world.

3D printing is gaining momentum in the industry. HP this week announced its new Blended Reality ecosystem, which aims to resolve the issues of speed, quality, cost and potential of 3D printing. HP believes society is on the brink of a transformative era in computing and printing. This sentiment is echoed by Gartner, who forecast that worldwide shipments of 3D printers will reach 217 350 units in 2015 – a two-fold increase from 2014.

And finally, African poetry is now available to the world through the Badilisha Poetry X-Change. The Web site, which works on both feature- and smartphones, houses poet profiles, interviews and podcast poetry readings in multiple African languages.
