NASA has put together a short video showing all the activity from the Mars rover Curiosity to celebrate its first full year on the Red Planet.

The two-minute video shows highlights of the mission since it touched down on 6 August 2012.

Yesterday’s tweet from Curiosity reads: “5 days till #1YearOnMars. Watch the past 12 months of exploration from my perspective in a 2 min time lapse http://youtu.be/8Alq08Poqb0.”
In addition, science buffs can watch a video of the Mars landing, shot by Curiosity, at http://youtu.be/UcGMDXy-Y1I.

The one-tonne rover touched down on Mars one year ago, completing the most complex landing ever attempted on Mars.

It has been taking photographs of Mars’ surface and even analysing soil samples, in an attempt to discover if the Red Planet has ever harboured life.

The latest image from Mars shows Curiosity, which appears as a bluish dot near the lower right corner of an enhanced-colour view from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
