The Open Group Enterprise Architecture (EA) Practitioners Conference will be held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg on 5 September 2013.

The sixth conference to be hosted by The Open Group South Africa, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium. This year’s theme is Positioning Enterprise Architecture to Deliver Business Value.

The conference will provide an opportunity for EA practitioners and others to interact with members of the enterprise architecture community and share their experiences.

“The importance of enterprise architecture as a strategic business capability and even as a source of competitive advantage is becoming increasingly well understood,” says Stuart Macgregor, CEO of Real IRM, which represents The Open Group in South Africa.

“King III and COBIT 5 have made the CEO accountable for enterprise architecture. What makes it a source of competitive advantage is that so few organisations do it well.”

The conference will feature EA presentations by several companies and will explore how they have positioned EA within their organisations, as well as the experiences that their practitioners have had while implementing EA. Also on the agenda are panel discussions, networking events and an exhibition, all geared to provide a broad overview of enterprise architecture and all its facets.
