BlackBerry Buddies – the friendly people who help South African BlackBerry customers get the most from their smartphones – have assisted approximately 4 800 people a month since the launch of the programme in July last year.
The BlackBerry Buddies have been on hand at designated stands in five key shopping centres around the country: Sandton City in Johannesburg; Menlyn Park in Pretoria; Mimosa Mall in Bloemfontein; Canal Walk in Cape Town; and Gateway Shopping Centre in Durban.

BlackBerry has now extended the successful BlackBerry Buddies initiative to four more shopping malls: Eastgate Mall in Johannesburg; The Pavilion in Westville; Somerset Mall in Cape Town; as well as Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg.

Shoppers at these venues will receive personal attention, technical support and advice at the BlackBerry kiosks, where BlackBerry Buddies are waiting to help.

Among the most popular requests BlackBerry Buddies have helped with in the past few months include basic configuration and tasks; backing-up and restoring devices; upgrading software and switching to a new device. They also give customers tips, tricks and shortcuts, assist with step-by-step trouble shooting and help customers get to know their smartphones better.
