The Western European large-format printer (LFP) market has declined in the second quarter of 2013 (2Q13), with shipments falling by 14,6% year-on-year, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

With the exception of a few Scandinavian markets, Western European markets showed declines. The total Western European large-format printer market was close to 15 500 units in 2Q13, according to IDC’s latest Western European Quarterly Large-Format Printer Tracker.

“Shipments of UV inkjet printers are still increasing and IDC expects this trend to continue in Western Europe,” says Julio Vial, research manager, Western European Quarterly Large-Format Printer Tracker.

The technical sector boasts more than 65% share of the market; however, the market declined by 4,4% year-on-year in 2Q13. The graphics segment showed a 30% decline year-on-year.

The top three vendors in Western Europe in 2Q13 were HP, Canon, and Epson, accounting for 83,7% of total LFP shipments.
