Samsung Electronics South Africa launched its first mono laser printer ProXpress M4020 and multi-function printer ProXpress M4070 series, specifically for the needs of small to medium-sized businesses. The mono laser printers will drive productivity for SMEs offering cost-effective, reliable printing, while placing high value on infrastructure efficiency.

The series is equipped with Samsung’s web-based open platform architecture, XOA (eXtensible Open Architecture) Web, a 4.3-inch wide colour touch screen, 1GHz dual core CPU, 1Gb memory, scan-to-cloud and security enhanced functions. These units also support a 4Gb SD card and use extra high yield toner that allows users to increase work productivity whilst keeping down costs.

“Samsung has released XOA Web to expand the number of devices from low-end A4 laser printers to high-end A3 MFPs that are compatible with various B2B solutions,” says Mike van Lier, business unit leader for Enterprise Business at Samsung Electronics South Africa.

“We are continuously looking for opportunities to broaden the solution offering and the availability of products that support XOA. Samsung is therefore strengthening its position in business markets to assist enterprises, channel partners and independent software vendors (ISVs) to utilise, sell and develop customised solutions.”

The extra high yield toner prints up to 15 000 pages and reduces the cost per page; the environmentally friendly Eco-Driver further reduces energy consumption up to 20%.

Samsung’s ProXpress M4020 and M4070 can deliver up to 40 pages per minute, at a resolution of 1200 x 600 optical dpi, which is twice than that of competitors’ at 600 x 600 optical. The series offers this high productivity with fast quality printing.

“Samsung empowers the growth of small businesses through innovative technology. We have taken care to ensure that we are able to meet the specific requirements which entrepreneurs and SME’s have through the development of cost-effective and secure solutions,” concluded Van Lier.

For small- to medium-sized businesses looking for low operating costs and higher productivity, the most noteworthy feature of the M4020 and M4070 series is the XOA Web, Samsung’s web-based open platform for customised business solutions.

In 2010, Samsung Electronics released XOA Embedded, a flexible and powerful open platform for running business solutions on printers and MFPs. XOA Embedded provides many rich features to support complex solutions.

Previously the platform could only be applied to high-end products, such as A3 MFPs, as it required high hardware specifications. Since the XOA Web platform is based on a web server, hardware specifications is no longer a prerequisite allowing a variety of devices from low-end A4 printers to high-end A3 MFPs to use this platform to run business solutions.

Small- and medium-sized business customers can now enjoy the benefits enhanced productivity and cost-savings of document, security and device management solutions according to their business’ need and fit for their company’s size. Additionally ISVs, resellers and dealers can offer customer-oriented solutions running on smaller A4 devices that better meet their requirements.

The M4020 and M4070 series adds convenience to small- and medium–sized businesses. The new series has a 4,3-inch wide touch colour screen, a marked improvement compared to the two- and four-line LCDs that are found in the existing ProXpress printer and MFP series, respectively.

The redesigned screen has the feel of an Android smartphone user interface (UI) in order for users to operate the unit more intuitively. The combination of an enlarged colour touch screen and smart UI can raise work productivity, allowing easy access to pre-installed solutions.

The Scan-to-Cloud function also makes it easy to share documents. For instance, save or scanned files can now be shared or printed from Google Drive, Drop Box and Evernote.

In addition, the security function was upgraded and user authentication can now be implemented through an ID card reader (sold separately) to ensure that confidential documents can only be printed or collected by authorised users.

Samsung’s proprietary security solution, SyncThru Admin, enables IT managers to control the user access to documents and the network, thereby providing small- and medium-sized businesses with higher levels of security.

The series also features higher specifications, including a 1GHz dual core CPU, 1Gb memory, and 4Gb SD card. Particularly, the 1GHz dual core which is called ‘C4N’ developed in collaboration with Samsung Semiconductor only for Samsung A3 MFPs are integrated into M4020/4070 series.

Samsung’s unique image enhancement technology, Rendering Engine for Clean Page (ReCP) guarantees an outstanding print quality with sharp text and clean image.
