Telkom Business has introduced Consolidated Threat Management (CTM) to the market. CTM is a comprehensive security service offering for perimeter and branch office networks.

“CTM is a leading-edge, all-inclusive offering that sets the benchmark in the South African IT security landscape,” says Vaughn Naidoo, the head of Product Portfolio, Architecture and Innovation at Telkom Business.

CTM serves to protect businesses of all sizes and sectors from simple day-to-day IT security threats as well as evolving blended attacks, including worms, Trojans, viruses and malware.

According to Naidoo, this offering bears testament to Telkom Business’s vision of being the converged ICT market leader. “With CTM, customers get a comprehensive security offering, based on a single technology platform, from one service provider. The net impact of which is reduced complexity and cost.”

CTM is a fully managed and supported service, including elements like:
* Policy and configuration management;
* Automated reporting and communication;
* Security policy configuration and log backups;
* SLA, support and maintenance services; and
* Health, availability and performance management.

“There are a number of benefits to how we have configured the functioning and overall servicing of CTM,” explains Naidoo.

“This lies primarily in reduction of cost and technical expertise needed due to the simplicity of the solution. CTM has an easy plug-and-play architecture and allows organisations to be compliant in respect to regulatory security controls.”

The service also includes a dedicated managed service that can be deployed at the customer’s premises or hosted at the Telkom Business data centre.

CTM is the first of three releases and forms the cornerstone of what will ultimately become a bigger portfolio. The second and third releases are scheduled to go to market in the latter part of 2013 and early 2014, respectively.
