Digital Planet has launched a feature-rich e-commerce site for PC International. Operating under the name PC Express, the site aims to attract consumers to purchase a wide range of IT products at competitive prices.

PC International has primarily distributed IT brands to the corporate, government and IT resellers market with a smaller focus on retail with a shop front.

Neil Watson, CEO of Digital Planet, comments: “PC International approached us to design and develop an effective e-commerce strategy and solution to penetrate the consumer market.”

Operating in a highly competitive field, it was important to position the PC Express online shop with key differentiators, one of which included their competitive rates and special offers. “Enhancing this with a focus on customer service and a great user experience would set the foundation for success,” says Watson.

Another differentiator was the implementation of a ‘click and collect’ feature, giving customers the option to purchase online and collect in a store.

With a focus on user experience, additional features were introduced which included a fully mobile responsive site, so that customers could browse and purchase on their cell phones. A product comparison feature was included to allow user to compare multiple products side by side.

“The instant EFT facility means that PC Express customers can purchase via EFT in a seamless transaction process without the hassle of separately logging into their online banking or paying manually at the bank,” adds Watson.

Other user-friendly features include mega menu navigation with promotional items and special offers within the navigation menu; a quick checkout process without having to register; and dynamic and predictive text search for instant search suggestions and product previews in an attractive popup widget.

According to Watson, another important area to address is to drive traffic to the site. A dedicated SEO and PPC strategy, along with a direct Price Check integration, will go a long way to attract consumers to the site.

Digital Planet will provide PC International with a range of services, which include on-going management of the site, as well as the development and implementation of marketing strategies based on business intelligence and analytics.
