IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Sun International, one of Africa’s leading gaming and leisure brands, has successfully concluded the first phase of its implementation of the IFS Applications enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite. The new system enables the casino and hotel group to standardise processes and technology across its properties throughout South Africa.

IFS Applications went live at the group’s headquarters and The Maslow Hotel, both located in Sandton, South Africa, as well as at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom in Kwa-Zulu Natal. This represents a significant milestone as Sun International will now be able to manage its operations through an integrated system across these units.

In subsequent phases, the software will be deployed at 14 additional Sun International properties and units including Wild Coast Sun, Grandwest, Boardwalk, and Sun City. The project kicked off in October 2013 and the roll-out of IFS Applications to the remaining properties will be concluded by the end of this year. The solution will support business-critical processes such as finance, supply chain, facilities and project management.

“The first deployment of the IFS Applications project is a major milestone for us, marking significant progress on our journey to replace our many different legacy systems into a centralised, single instance and fully integrated ERP solution,” says Mike Wilson, the Sun International project manager leading the implementation. “We will now have standard processes and systems at each of our properties in South Africa as well as access to consistent, accurate information for reporting purposes. Furthermore, the design to replace our heterogeneous mix of applications with a single solution will reduce the costs of maintenance.”

Sun International chose IFS Applications because it provided the best support for Sun International’s business requirements. Through its configurable, service-oriented architecture, the solution will contribute to a reduction in back-office total cost of ownership.

“We are delighted to be working with Sun International on this strategic initiative to better manage business costs through the automation of business processes,” says IFS Africa Managing Director Gawie van Der Merwe. “With its flexible, multi-site support, IFS Applications is the ideal platform for Sun International to consolidate and streamline its operations.”
