UCS Solutions, the leading IT service provider to the retail industry, is proud to announce the organisation’s recent certification to PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) Version 3. This major milestone was achieved as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) and IT Service Provider.
Adherence to PCI DSS is mandatory for all merchants and service providers that store, transmit or process any credit card or debit card information. Merchants failing to adhere to the 12 requirements set out by the PCI Council for PCI DSS are subject to substantial fines, and risk losing EFT trading rights via MasterCard and Visa.
UCS Solutions’ IT executive for Governance, Risk and Compliance, Glen Khan, explains that, by continuously complying with these standards, the company is in a position to ensure that cardholder data is protected at all times.
He says: “As an IT service provider to retailers, we have to ensure that the highest levels of information security are maintained at all times. UCS Solutions brings a proactive mind-set to PCI DSS and any other data security standard. UCS Solutions is also certified for ISO 27001 (Information Security Standard).”
“The certification of PCI DSS and ISO 27001 also puts UCS Solutions and its clients in a favourable position to comply with the POPI Act (Protection of Personal Information) as, ultimately, compliance with these standards ensures better and safer management of all data, including cardholder data and personal information. This really gives our customers peace of mind that their data is safe and secure with us,” Khan comments.
“Over and above adhering to these standards. UCS Solutions looks to exceed the minimum requirements, processes and policies, enhanced by the latest information security and risk management technologies and toolsets. Security is further maintained by rigorous maintenance programs to ensure ongoing compliance,” concludes Khan.
