Altech Node announced they are now offering content from premier Hollywood studios Warner Bros., substantially extending its content library of movies and television entertainment from the world’s major film studios including Disney, Fox, NBC Universal, Sony, Lionsgate, MGM, Starz and Miramax, all aggregated through Vubiquity the leading global provider of premium content services.
Marius Marais, MD: Altech Node, believes the new content strengthens the Node’s entertainment offering in addition to the existing Node features.

“Users are looking for value with their entertainment subscription. Whether it’s movies, series, sport or kids shows, variety is critical. With the new Warner Bros. content agreement, Node customers now have an even greater selection to choose from than before.” Marais said.

“Warner Bros. have been consistently ranked in the top six film studios in the world and have brought us classic titles such as The Dark Knight, the Harry Potter series, Inception and Gravity. The agreement to distribute premium titles such as these demonstrates the legitimacy of the Node in the international entertainment marketplace, and is a tribute to the efforts of the Node team for their relentless pursuit in attaining quality content for our subscribers,” Marais added.

Some of the exciting new releases secured by Node for the forthcoming season include: American Sniper, Jupiter Ascending, Fifty Shades of Grey, Peaky Blinders, Chappie, Home Inherent Vice, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, etc. Go to http://www.node.co.za/discover/node-entertainment to see the variety of content available on the Node.

Adam Poulter, MD for EMEA at Vubiquity, says: “We’re delighted to have been able to sign a deal for Altech Node with Warner Bros. Altech Node is a truly pioneering service. It sets new standards in integrated technology, combining connectivity with entertainment services. In my view it clearly signals the direction of travel for services in emerging markets.”

The video-on-demand industry is still in its infancy in South Africa. Yet the Node has seen satisfactory results in uptake which is evident from the increased views of the Node subscription titles and amazing purchases of the premium rental titles which remain the most competitive in the market at a rental fee of only R25 for up to 48 hours.

In addition to the plethora of superb studio content, Node has further expanded its entertainment offering by becoming Africa’s first certified partner of YouTube’s Leanback technology.

The YouTube Leanback application allows the viewer to use their television to search for videos, queue video requests and make playlists. Videos tailored to the viewer’s interest play in full screen and high definition, continuously. There is no need to click, search, or browse, and watching YouTube on the Altech Node becomes as easy as watching regular television.
