Acer, Samsung, MTN and Nokia are the most recognised technology brands, according to the new Ask Afrika Icon Brands announced yesterday.

MTN and Nokia made it into the top echelons of brand awareness and customer loyalty by being awarded as Icon Brands.

MTN also won the telecommunications product category, with Nokia winning the cell phone brand category.

Samsung was named as the leader in the tablet category, and Acer as the leader in PCs and laptops.

The Ask Afrika Icon Brand Awards celebrate South Africa’s most loved brands.

Ask Afrika identified 28 Icon Brands that truly understand and cater to their consumers’ needs and wants.  The Ask Afrika Icon Brands are ubiquitous, quintessentially South African and demonstrate brand relevance across the evolving consumer spectrum, irrespective of demographics, age, gender, race, culture, language, income, education, and individual style.

The Ask Afrika Icon Brands survey is the largest benchmark of its kind in South Africa with 19 industry sectors, 164 product categories, and thousands of brands included in the measurement.

The Ask Afrika Icon Brands survey uses a nationally representative random sample of 15 690 consumers representing over 23,3-million adult South African consumers.
