Runtastic has joined the Adidas group. The company’s CEO Florian Gschwandtner confirmed the news last week, stating that it was time to take the next step.
Runtastic had already been a part of the Axel-Springer company (owning 50,1% since October 2013) which has been an integral factor in Runtastic’s growth.

“We already have a lot of knowledge when it comes to apps and digital technology,” Gschwandtner says. “And with Adidas Group as our trusted counterpart (and one of the most successful and most comprehensive sports companies in the world) there’s nothing we won’t be able to do when it comes to health and fitness offerings.”

This exciting news does not negatively impact the hardware aspect of the Runtastic brand. Krippl Watches will remain the hardware manufacturer for Runtastic, with Wintec Solutions remaining the exclusive Sub Saharan Distributor.
