The offerings from Netflix are not the same across the world, and shows for which the service doesn’t have global rights won’t be served outside of the US.
This means that South African users could experience frustrating limitations to what can be watched compared to US selection – and if users travel, they might notbe able to view shows targeted specifically to South Africa.
One way of overcoming this issue is by using a VPN, according to NordVPN, which has issued a statement detailing how a VPN service links user¹s computer and Internet to a server in a country of their choice – so that person can appear to be in the US, while they actually are in South Africa, and vice versa.
With a VPN, users can access most streaming services without limitations, including Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, Hulu and YouTube among others.
VPN service hides a true geographical location by masking user¹s IP address with the IP address of the server that they connect to. So when the streaming site looks at their IP, it will see the IP of the VPN server that person is using the Internet through and not the true IP.
VPNs also offer security by encrypting all data shared between the Internet and a user’s system, so none of the data can be compromised, according to NordVPN.
