South Africans can now take movie nights at home to a new level thanks to Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa’s vendor partner Linksys and the streaming service Netflix. Linksys has made smooth streaming and sharing with fast connection speeds a local reality with its XAC1200 AC1200 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Modem Router.
“Using this modem, Netflix subscribers can watch movies and series on any device, whenever and wherever they want to, without having to worry about constantly waiting for videos to buffer or losing signal altogether. Netflix launched in South Africa in January 2016 and is fast becoming the way most consumers want to consume their favourite movies and series,” says Heinz Stephan, Director Consumer Solutions at Westcon-Comstor Southern Africa.
“With the Linksys XAC1200 Router, consumers won’t have to deal with constant buffering or loss of signal as video streaming is smooth and connection speeds are fast. Users can even pair the router with the Linksys RE6500 Wi-Fi Range Extender to boost Wireless AC-Coverage and eliminate possible deadzones. Poolside movie-day anyone?”
The Linksys XAC1200 AC1200 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Modem Router features next generation Wireless-AC that outperforms Wireless-N with speeds of up to three times faster. It has beamforming technology that optimises performance and reduces interference by focusing wireless signal to connected devices and users are able to share files and add external storage across the network with the USB 3.0 port. It is important to note and factor in, that speeds are however, reliant on the speed of the link as well as the bandwidth provided by your service provider.
Each unit also has advanced wireless security including WPA/WPA2 encryption and an SPI firewall as well as Linksys Smart Wi-Fi which will allow users to monitor and control home networks for anywhere through the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi website or mobile app.
“By pairing this router with the Linksys RE6500 Wi-Fi Range Extender you’ll be able to stream HD-quality videos without lag due to high-speed AC technology. It also provides rapid and reliable wired connections to Internet-ready devices with its four Gigabit Ethernet ports, meaning it offers speeds ten times faster than Fast Ethernet,” says Stephan.
“This is fantastic news for local consumers who may be subscribed to other entertainment providers that cut out due to bad weather, or poor signal. It also means that you’ll be able to watch what you want, when you want and anywhere you’d like inside – or outside of – your house.”
